Here to Help
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” -Psalm 91:1-2
Alyssa is a devoted clinician who brings a variety of experience to the therapeutic space. Her work with children, youth, young adults, and families in church, community, and social service arenas have informed her clinical practice. She is passionate about providing a safe and inviting space for all, as well as helping make mental health care more accessible to all. It is a core belief of Safe Haven Counseling & Therapeutic Services that all should have access to mental health care, and Alyssa works hard to find creative ways to offer reduced rates to those who need financial assistance.
Alyssa earned both her undergraduate degree in Youth Ministry and her graduate degree in Couple, Marriage & Family Counseling from Messiah University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) who has experience working with individuals from backgrounds of trauma, difficult life transitions, relational difficulties, anxiety, depression, faith challenges, grief and loss, parenting struggles, and more. In addition, she has an extensive background counseling children and youth in foster care, aged out youth/young adults, foster and adoptive families, individuals experiencing homelessness, and those who have faced trials in pregnancy & postpartum.
When not counseling, Alyssa enjoys spending time with her husband and kids, singing & playing the piano, drinking a good cup of coffee, and exploring new places.
